 Dri-Can Desiccant Packs are designed to rapidly and actively absorb moisture from the surrounding air in a confined space (i.e. a box). As is true of submersible pressure / level sensors, they are used to keep the vent tubes in the cables (attached to the sensors) dry by keeping the humidity below the dew point, which, otherwise, could create condensation in the vent tubes.

The Dri-Can Desiccant Packs indicate when the desiccant is "working" or needs to be replaced. When the color is blue, the desiccant is "working"; when it is red, it is time to be replaced. Under normal conditions, the desiccant should be changed every 6 to 12 months. The desiccant pack can be dried out by baking it in the oven at 135°C (275°F) for about 3 hours, or with the new plastic pack by heating in a microwave oven.
